Band of the Week

Taken by Ed Sheppard
Monument Valley is rather lovely. A solo project with a band attached (for live events), London-born Ned Younger hits a musical spot in my heart that I just can't identify. But I like it.
Comparisons have been made between him and Mumford & Sons (maybe because their band supported him), but he doesn't have the enormously grand, full sound that they strive for. If we are going down the London folk comparison route, he's alot like Jay Jay Pistolet (soft, organic and heart wrenching...) with a hint of Jamie T vocal quality. Perfect.
I could honestly listen to (and watch!) him for hours.. He looks and sounds so at ease with himself, which adds a wonderful quality to the tracks. But, if I had to pick just one, it would be 'Dear John Letters'. "We were all each other needed to grow old" always makes me smile...
This version is just wonderful.
